What the guides are for
Our guides describe how water leaks tend to behave. Your property is not the average one, so a sign that usually points to one source can come from another in your home, and only a survey on site can settle it. Never cut into walls, floors or sealed pipework to search for a leak if electrics or gas are close by.
Emergencies
A gas smell means ringing the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first, before anything else. If water is running near electrics, or a pipe is flooding the property, shut off the water at the stop tap, stay clear of wet sockets and phone an emergency plumber or electrician. Our enquiry form is a way to ask about a leak. It is not an emergency line.
Figures on the site
Our own prices are those on the price pages, for the work each one describes. No VAT is charged. Any other amount quoted in a guide is a range seen across the trade and should not be read as what we charge.
Hiring us
The price of a visit is the one on the price pages for the work it describes, and payment is agreed with you before a job begins. When a visit is charged and when it is not is set out on the no find no fee page. Nothing here reduces the rights you have as a consumer by law.
Cancelling a booking
If you book a visit by phone, online or away from our premises, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 generally give you 14 days from the booking to cancel without giving a reason. Work does not start in that period unless you ask for it. If you ask for work to begin and then cancel, you pay a proportionate amount for what was done up to the point you told us.
If you specifically ask for an urgent repair or maintenance visit, the right to cancel may not apply to that visit. Anything beyond the urgent work remains cancellable. To cancel, write to [email protected] with the date and the booking, and keep a copy. Our plain-language summary of the 14-day rule sets out the steps. This is a summary and the regulations are the authority.
Complaints
If a visit, a charge or a report is not what you expected, write to [email protected] and say what happened and what you would like done. If the matter is not settled, you can take it to an alternative dispute resolution provider or to the courts, and your legal rights are unaffected either way.
